The Summer Solstice is the most energetically charged day of the year.☀️
The sun is at its peak, the earth is alive, and everything around us is humming with possibility. In ancient traditions this was a day to harness that energy intentionally — to set something in motion, to activate, to begin.
We believe your morning ritual is the perfect place to start. Before the world gets loud, before the day takes over — a quiet moment with matcha is how we choose to meet the solstice. Grounded, present, and ready for whatever this season is calling you toward. 🌿
Summer Solstice
A new season always excites me. There is something about feeling the earth shift that gives us the push we didn't know we needed. We mirror our surroundings more than we care to admit — it's hard not to feel alive when the first hot day arrives, the sun warm on bare shoulders.
Summer has arrived. If I were to choose one word: Activation.
This is the earth giving you permission to start that project, book that trip, try something new and scary, and step outside your comfort zone. There is nowhere in the world quite like Vancouver in the summer — the season we've all been waiting for. The sun barely sets. The city opens up. More activity, more adventure, more relationships, more opportunity.
With every transition there should always be ceremony. I believe deeply in intention — life without it leaves us wondering where all the time went. These rituals are how I stay free, while remaining grounded in who I am and where I want to grow.
Here are 10 ways to step into the new season with intention:
1. Take a yoga class — outside
So many studios are holding outdoor events right now. If you're local to Vancouver:
One Yoga — June 27th I'll be there serving matcha after class 🍵 Check their schedule for morning and evening events.
Casa Copal — a personal favourite for their outdoor ceremonies, from yoga to kirtan. Unblock your throat chakra by singing your heart out with your community under the open sky.
2. Gather outside
We are incredibly lucky to call British Columbia home. The rivers, mountains, beaches, and forests hold so much space for us to connect with each other and with the season. Get your people together for an outdoor picnic — bring flowers, candles, something homemade. Make it earthy and intentional. Let the beauty that months of rain has created be your backdrop.
3. Eat what's seasonally grown
Summer farmers markets are at their absolute prime right now. Make it a ritual to visit weekly and pick something new — a fruit, a vegetable, an ingredient you've never cooked with before. Getting out of our comfort zones starts small, and this is the most delicious way to begin.
4. Do the thing you've been putting off
We all have one. The career pivot, the hobby we've been too embarrassed to try, the class we keep bookmarking. Now is the season for activation and growth. We are planting the seeds of ourselves in these months. Embrace the effort. Embrace the mess. Have fun with it.
5. Make a solstice morning ritual
Before the day takes over — step outside barefoot. Feel the ground. Make something warm or iced to drink slowly, with your hands. Light a candle. Write down one intention for the season ahead. The solstice is the most energetically charged day of the year — meet it with presence, even just for ten minutes.
This is where our matcha kits come in. A quiet, grounding ritual before the activation begins. 🍵
6. Spend time with the people you love — without an agenda
Summer gives us permission (though we should never need it) to simply live. Take the trip. Say yes to the spontaneous dinner. Be fully present with the people who matter. No phones, no plans — just time.
7. Camp. Even just once.
Controversial opinion: camping is simply the best. It is the one activity where all you are expected to do is be. Outside, slowing down, cooking over a fire, sleeping under stars. Even one night will reset your body and mind more than you can imagine. Bonus points if you have no service — or better yet, challenge yourself to airplane mode.
8. Swim in natural water
A lake, river, ocean — whatever is closest. There's something deeply reset-ting about submerging yourself in natural water, especially in the peak of summer. It's grounding, activating, and completely free. Anxiety Medicine.
9. A digital sunset
Pick one evening this week to put your phone away when the sun goes down and stay off it until morning. Notice what you do with your hands, your time, your thoughts. The solstice is about presence — this is the simplest way to practise it.
10. Write a mid-year letter to yourself
The solstice falls almost exactly at the halfway point of the year. What did you say you'd do in January? What has surprised you? What do you want the second half to look like? Write it down — you'll be glad you did.
