How to Find the Perfect Matcha for Your Taste: Your Complete Guide

Choosing the right matcha can feel overwhelming with so many varieties available. That's why we've created a simple guide to help you discover which of our premium matcha varieties will become your new favourite.

All Of Our Matcha Starts with Excellence

Before we dive into the varieties, know that all our matcha is ceremonial grade, stone ground from first harvest leaves, and certified organic. This means you're getting the highest quality matcha regardless of which variety you choose – the difference lies in the unique flavour profiles, cultivation, and origins.

Find Your Perfect Match

Sweet & Gentle:

Ceremonial Blend (Kagoshima)

Perfect for beginners

If you're new to matcha or prefer milder flavors, our Ceremonial Blend offers sweet, delicate, and creamy notes. Sourced from Kagoshima, this blend provides a gentle introduction to the world of premium matcha without any overwhelming bitterness. A "blend" means the leaves are sourced from multiple farms and different cultivars.

Yabukita Cultivar (Aichi Prefecture)

On the lighter side, a smooth and velvety matcha from a single-origin farm. Produced from a single cultivar, the tencha comes from the same leaves—crafted to express a precise and distinctive flavour. Taste umami, hints of sweetness, land ow astringency.

Bold & Traditional:

Samidori Cultivar (Uji)

For adventurous palates

Ready for a more intense experience? Our single-origin Samidori from the famous Uji region delivers umami-rich, bright, and full-bodied flavour. This cultivar is perfect for those who want to experience a more traditional taste that matcha connoisseurs love.

Unique & Complex:

Okumidori Cultivar (Wazuka)

For traditional lovers seeking something special

Our single-origin Okumidori from Wazuka has a vivid green colour, rounded umami, and velvety mouthfeel. A bold & delicious taste with notes of roasted chestnuts and white Chocolate.

Evening-Friendly:

Houjicha (Wazuka)

For the caffeine sensitive

Love the ritual of tea but sensitive to caffeine? Our Houjicha from Wazuka features caramel, smoky notes and is naturally low in caffeine, making it perfect for evening enjoyment or those who want to limit their caffeine intake. Houjicha is a roasted tea (don't be surprised by the dark brown powder!) This is also sourced from a single estate farm.

Balanced Perfection:

Horse Shadow- Komakage Cultivar (Aichi)

For everyone

This limited edition matcha is crafted to appeal to all palate preferences – truly a matcha for everyone. We are honoured to have been able to source a small batch of the highest quality matcha from the first certified organic farm. Their organic cultivation practices have been mastered for decades. Smooth umami with gentle sweetness and a subtle nutty undertone. 100% first harvest tea, manufactured in a traditional brick furnace, and stone mill ground.
