Spring! We finally made it. Our bodies and minds are starting to wake up, come out of hibernation, and give us more energy to make plans after work every day (so we are told lol) Each transition into a new season comes an adjustment, and its totally ok to not feel exactly "ready" (Still wearing pjs for the first half of the workday).
Not a doctor or a scientist, but I am someone who has tried (sometimes too obsessively) holistic trends and habits for years and years. With new articles emerging everyday how we are "supposed to live" it's easy to get overwhelmed and not even both trying. These pillars bring me joy, keep me grounded, and don't involve waking up for a HIIT workout at 5 AM.
→ A Short, Gentle Morning walk
This is where having a dog is great and also sucks. Great to force me outside into the light and fresh air before staring at my laptop for hours, sucks when its the dead of winter. If it's super nice out? I take my matcha to go for my "I put on pants at 7 am" reward. Our Spring go -to is our Komakage Cultivar, a super rare cultivar with a perfectly balanced flavour to wake you up slowly without giving you a coffee heart attack. Sip your matcha, breathe in the crisp morning air, appreciate the stunning Cherry Blossom trees and budding flowers- truly the best way to start your day!
→ Embrace the "woo woo"
You've probably heard it's "Year of the Horse" in the Chinese zodiac, signifying a more active, forward-moving energy—supporting momentum, independence, and a sense of aliveness. It leans into spontaneity and connection, but asks for just enough grounding to avoid burnout or impulsiveness. With 2026 as a Fire Horse year, that energy feels even more heightened—passionate, intense, and a little harder to ignore.
I recently had the pleasure of attending "The Self Made Breakfast Tour" women in business networking event. Many of the talks revolved around mindset, and how it holds the power to dictate the direction your business is moving. We were led into a writing exercise by "Writeway"to write a letter to our future selves as if all of our goals and dreams came true. "What's the best that could happen?" written on the front of the postcard. So often our brains are filled with worry, fear, and self doubt, knowing this won't help us in any way. With Spring energy here, let's just try (because we literally have nothing else to lose) to walk through life as if the best things are coming to us - and then maybe they will :)
→ Breathwork
Have you ever been deep into a task and realized you weren't breathing? Imagine how most of your work day leaves you in this state, signalling to your body you are in a perpetual state of stress. As someone deeply inspired by somatic work and therapy, I've learned through experience (and many therapist friends) how much we can actually control our physiological stress response. I've been to some intense pranayama classes where your hands freeze up and you're doing intense breath work for 45 minutes. We don't need to go this far to get the benefits of breathwork. Stop, breathe in some fresh air from the bottom of your belly, hold it in for a few seconds, and then release. Try this paired with your morning walk. Having a stressful day? let that exhale be HEARD.
→ Take a Class At Your Local Yoga Studio
If finding ways to connect and reground on your own feels difficult, or let's be honest, we procrastinate and are too lazy (there's that lingering winter energy) this is my favourite way to reset into a new chapter. Most yoga studios will have workshops aligned with the seasons.
If you are local to Vancouver, these are my favourite studios and some of their upcoming workshops.
Casa Copal (2291 W Broadway) Root To Bloom: Bloom & Integrate
Bealtaine: A Gathering Earth Day Kirtan & Ceremony
One Yoga (156 E 7th Av) Primordial Meditation with Shelley Tomczyk Mindful Movement, Mantra & Meditation: A Healing Journey
→ Consume Locally
Possibly my favourite Spring Ritual of all- Farmer's Markets are BACKKK. Nourishing yourself with locally grown food is not only more sustainable, but also more delicious and deeply rewarding—especially when you can connect the food back to the people and farms behind it. While it's just the beginning of the season, look out for root vegetables (radish, potatoes, beets, carrots) leafy greens like Kale, and refreshing veggies like cucumber and peppers.
→ Spring Cleaning
I actually look forward to this every year. Room by room, drawer by drawer, getting into all the crevices and forgotten boxes shoved under the bed collecting dust. Do yourself a favour and make this a priority. When our spaces are clean, organized, and light, our energy follows.
Highlighted In This Post: Komakage Cultivar
Your perfect fuel for spring. We couldn't have dreamed of a better new release for Spring. "Komakage" can be roughly translated to "Horse Shadow" Inspired by a historic story from Uji, where tea was planted in the tracks of a passing horse to establish proper spacing in the fields. Just like our favourite rituals, this matcha will balance and ground you for your season of momentum.
