Okumidori Grove- Single Cultivar 30g

Why this matcha?

This is rare. Most farms skip Okumidori because it grows slowly and produces less. The farms that grow it do it purely for the quality — choosing character over convenience.

Made from first harvest leaves — the youngest, most nutrient-rich of the year — and stone ground to a fine powder, the result is a vivid green, silky smooth matcha with roasted chestnut and white chocolate notes. Rich, never bitter, and incredibly easy to drink. Sourced from a single 350-year-old farm in Japan and certified organic.

For the curious. For the bold. For anyone craving something different.

ORIGIN

wazuka, japan

Nestled in the verdant hills of Wazuka is a family-owned farm with a rich history spanning over 350 years. The Nakai family has been cultivating tea in harmony with nature, earning them the distinction of being the first tea farm in Japan to receive organic certification under both the Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS) and equivalent USDA and EU organic standards.

We instantly felt connected to the founder's story, and knew we needed to make the trip to visit in person. After finding high traces of pesticides in his blood, Michio Nakai made drastic changes to change his conventional farm to an organic one- no matter the cost. After suffering 70% in loss, he never gave up, and is now one of the founding members of JONA, the first organic certifier in Japan.

A TASTE OF TRADITION

Matcha is so much more than a drink—it’s a window into centuries of Japanese culture and philosophy. Rooted in the principles of wabi-sabi and ichi-go ichi-e—the beauty of imperfection and the importance of the present moment—each cup invites stillness, respect, and appreciation. We hope our brand and the products we offer help you to experience the calm and intentionality of the Japanese tea ceremony. There are many new tools and "quicker" ways to make matcha as it grows in popularity. We prefer the traditional way; slow & intentional.
