Why this houjicha?
If tea and coffee had a baby — this would be it.
Roasty, toasty, and deeply comforting, with chocolatey, caramel-like notes that feel closer to a cozy coffee moment than a traditional green tea. Smooth, slightly sweet, and naturally low in caffeine — endlessly easy to drink any time of day.
Sun grown, single origin, from a family farm in Wazuka, Japan with over 350 years of history.
Perfect as a latte, hot or iced.
Earthy comfort in a Cup

Houjicha 30g
Wazuka, Japan
Nestled in the verdant hills of Wazuka is a family-owned farm with a rich history spanning over 350 years. The Nakai family has been cultivating tea in harmony with nature, earning them the distinction of being the first tea farm in Japan to receive organic certification under both the Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS) and equivalent USDA and EU organic standards.
We instantly felt connected to the founder's story, and knew we needed to make the trip to visit in person. After finding high traces of pesticides in his blood, Michio Nakai made drastic changes to change his conventional farm to an organic one- no matter the cost. After suffering 70% in loss, he never gave up, and is now one of the founding members of JONA, the first organic certifier in Japan.
Nakai Farm's Okumidori Cultivar is now available!

3. Pour about 2 oz of water into the bowl (enough to cover the powder)

5. Add a splash of sweetener if desired
FAQ
when will I get my order?
Orders are fulfilled in 1-3 business days. Depending on your location, shipping times vary, but orders should arrive within 5 business days after shipment.
how should I store my matcha?
We recommend storing opened matcha in a cool dark place (like a pantry) away from heat, light, and humidity.
The next best storage option would be in the fridge, but with caution.
Here’s what to keep in mind:
- Matcha absorbs moisture and odours easily, so keep it sealed.
where do you ship?
We ship to the US & Canada, hoping to expand one day!
do you offer returns?
Due to the nature of our edible products, we do not accept returns on matcha. However, if you experience any issues with your order, please reach out—we’re happy to help!
If your product is damaged upon arrival, please send us an email with pictures.
Why is good matcha so expensive?
Ceremonial organic matcha is expensive because it's made from the highest-quality, shade-grown young tea leaves, and stone-ground into a fine powder. The process is labor-intensive, production is limited, and organic farming adds extra care and cost—resulting in a vibrant, smooth matcha prized for its flavor, freshness, and purity.
Traditional granite stone mills grind matcha very slowly to prevent heat buildup, which can damage flavour and nutrients.
Each mill produces only about 30–40 grams per hour, just one tin!
