A Conversation With Our Uji Farm

How have things changed in the last year for your business? Are things operating differently?

It has certainly been a whirlwind year, with a surge in matcha demand leading to numerous orders and enquiries. However, the matcha price, which previously did not reflect our efforts, has now reached a level commensurate with its value. This feels like a beacon of hope, enabling us to pass the business on to the next generation.

What has been the most challenging change as the matcha demand has increased?

The difficulty in meeting demand for certain products. It is also true that some business partners suspended transactions due to the price increases.

Why is your matcha so special?

Our matcha uses only spring-harvested, hand-picked first flush leaves grown in our own tea gardens. We use tea leaves carefully and meticulously picked bud by bud by our tea pickers. Such organic matcha is extremely rare globally, and we take pride in its world-class flavour.

Moreover, we are a producer with the expertise to win top prizes at various Japanese tea competitions.

What are your predictions for the next harvest?

It's still too early to say, but we will strive diligently to deliver matcha of the highest quality.
